The Cleveland Cavaliers are continuing to explore their options with regards to the treatment of Kevin Love’s hand injury.
Love broke the fifth metacarpal in his left hand during the first quarter of Tuesday night’s loss to the Detroit Pistons. There is no timetable set for his return, but most experts and analysts are ruling him out for 6-8 weeks.
Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today Sports reports that Love and members of the Cavs’ medical team will visit a surgical specialist in New York City for consultation.
Losing Love is certainly a tough blow for the Cavs. The former UCLA stand-out played 48 games this season prior to his injury, averaging 17.9 points on 46.3 percent shooting from the field (40.3 percent from beyond the arc), 9.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.

“The consultation will include a trip to New York and, maybe, surgery. He had his knee and shoulder fixed there over the past four seasons by Dr. David Altchek.”
With Love out of the lineup for an unbeknownst amount of time, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue has elected to give Jae Crowder the starting nod at power forward.
The Cavs, first in the Central Division standings with a 29-20 overall record, will be back in action on Wednesday night, as they’re scheduled to host the Miami Heat inside Quicken Loans Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. EST with Fox Sports Ohio having live broadcast coverage.
