The Cleveland Cavaliers have been making several moves trying to improve their team as they’re on a mission to make a postseason run next month. One of their latest moves was waiving forward JT Thor, who was on a two-way contract with the team.
Thor hasn’t played much for the Cavs this season, as he only appeared in nine games and averaged 4.7 minutes per night. In 42 total minutes, Thor scored 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting. He also played for the Cleveland Charge during the season as well, averaging 14.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 31.8 minutes per game.
With the waiving of Thor, that makes space for the Cavs to officially sign Nae’Qwan Tomlin, who agreed to a two-year, two-way deal with the team. Tomlin has appeared in 37 games for the Charge this season and is averaging 15.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game.
Tomlin may not see much time on the court with the Cavs, but it seems like a great opportunity for someone who has been playing hard in the G-League.
It’s safe to say the Cavs have some of the best depth in the league this season, and they’ve added a few players to the team who could be major contributors down the stretch. De’Andre Hunter was a massive pickup for the Cavs at the trade deadline and he’s come in and made a nice impact on both sides of the ball.
The Cavs also added Javonte Green, another solid player who can contribute on both sides of the ball.
A lot of people are looking at the Cavs as the team that has a good chance of getting out of the Eastern Conference and making it to the NBA Finals. In their most recent win against the Boston Celtics, there’s no doubt that they made a statement after being down 25-3 in the first quarter and coming back.
