The Cleveland Cavaliers have been heavily involved in attempting to put the final touches on a blockbuster trade moving Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics.
According to Sam Amico of Amico Hoops, the Cavaliers are still keeping an eye on the other situations surrounding both Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade.
“Along with trading Irving, and potentially dealing Shumpert, the Cavs continue to keep an eye on the Carmelo Anthony situation in New York, and more so, the possible Dwyane Wade contract buyout in Chicago.”
Cleveland has been long interested in Anthony since prior to last season’s trade deadline, but has yet to put forth a concerted effort to get a deal done for the 10-time All-Star. Things have cooled down over the last several weeks with the 33-year-old expressing little interest in being dealt to the Cavaliers with his primary desire instead directed toward joining his other close friend Chris Paul in the Houston Rockets.
Meanwhile, there has been growing talk that the Chicago Bulls could be nearing a contract buyout with Wade. Cleveland has emerged as a primary landing spot for the All-Star guard given his strong connection to LeBron James.
All of this may ultimately hinge on how things wind up with the trade involving Irving to the Celtics that has a deadline set for Thursday morning to get completed.
