Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond was traded away from the Detroit Pistons in February. But after spending the first 8.5 seasons with the Motor City team, the Cavs center clearly has deep ties to the Detroit community.

Drummond made that clear with his announcement on Saturday that he is partnering with audio company JBL to donate headphones to schools in the Cleveland and Detroit areas in order to help students affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Cavs big man teamed up with Little Kids Rock — a national nonprofit dedicated to innovating music education in schools — for the donation. The headphones will assist kids with online classes, e-learning, and music lessons, according to Cleveland.com.

“Life has changed a lot in the last month, including students,” Andre Drummond said in his announcement. “I’m teaming up with my partners at JBL to provide kids in need with headphones so they can stay focused in a new learning environment and stay successful in the classroom. We can beat this together.”

As the virus affects cities across the country, Detroit has unfortunately emerged as a COVID-19 epicenter.

Other NBA players that work with JBL include Milwaukee Bucks MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, New York Knicks forward Julius Randle, Miami Heat All-Star Bam Adebayo, Boston Celtics superstar Kemba Walker, and Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine. New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is also a JBL ambassador.
