It was a bitter ending for the Cleveland Cavaliers to an insane double-overtime thriller against the Chicago Bulls. Evan Mobley along with Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell blazed up but it was to no avail. The Cavs ended up falling short of their 39th win of the season. Nonetheless, one member of the team did insanely well in Caris LeVert.
The Cavs single-game record for assists had just been tied. Caris LeVert notched the record under his belt by dropping 15 assists against the Bulls. Bobby Washington is the only person who has done it in the team’s history and that was last achieved in 1971.
History did not stop there for the Cavs forward. His career-high in dimes is the most by any bench player in the league this season. Moreover, he became the first player in NBA history to notch a stat line of 14 points, 15 assists, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
It was a phenomenal all-around performance from him. This added big to the contributions of Evan Mobley, who led the Cavs in scoring by recording 25 points on 11 of 17 field goal shooting. Darius Garland also put up 23 points and dished out five dimes for the Cavs. Overall, seven players got to double-digit scoring numbers while everyone on the roster scored at least two points.
It is just unfortunate that all of this history came in a loss to the Bulls. Nonetheless, the Cavs have shown the ability to bounce back and they will surely do their best in the next game.
