Kyrie Irving is coming off of an NBA Championship, hit one of the biggest shots in NBA history, and certainly the biggest in Cavaliers history. And now after a championship parade, Irving was invited by Team USA to participate in the 2016 Rio Olympics this summer.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Irving has accepted the invitation and will play in the Olympics.

Irving last played for Team USA in the 2014 World Cup where he averaged 12.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists, and 1.9 steals in nine games for the Americans. He came up huge in the final game, putting up 26 points, a rebound, and four assists on 10-13 shooting and 6-6 from three-point range.

Many could understandably question Irving’s decision to play for Team USA after having an injury-riddled career, but the Americans will be dying for talent after players like LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry, James Harden, Anthony Davis, and Kawhi Leonard all turned down the opportunities to play in Brazil in a couple months for a chance at another gold medal for Team USA.
