The Cleveland Cavaliers signed Jared Cunningham to a non-guaranteed, one year deal at the end of the preseason, mostly to be a backup point guard for Matthew Dellavedova and Mo Williams until Kyrie Irving got back. He really wasn’t expected to stay on longer than the deadline to guarantee those contracts. Cunningham, however, has defied the odds.

Cunningham has averaged just 3.4 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in 27 games and 11 minutes off the bench, but he has proven himself a valuable player when the Cavs have needed him most, and he’s impressed even with a healthy Cavs roster.

Congratulations to Jared Cunningham for being kept on the roster and look for many great plays from the young, high-flyer.
