The Cleveland Cavaliers will bring four new faces to Spain when they open training camp next week, adding Kadary Richmond, Curtis Jones, Zack Austin and Rashaun Agee to their 21-player roster ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Cleveland announced its training camp roster Thursday as the organization prepares to travel overseas following a disappointing end to last season. The Cavaliers reached the Eastern Conference Finals before the eventual NBA champion New York Knicks swept them.
According to Ethan Sands of Cleveland.com, Richmond, Jones, Austin and Agee will join the Cavaliers as training camp invites. While Cleveland’s NBA roster has limited flexibility because of its proximity to the first-apron hard cap, the four players could compete for opportunities within the organization, including with the Cleveland Charge of the G League.
Richmond already has experience in Cleveland’s system after spending time with the Charge last season. The 6-foot-6 guard played collegiately at Syracuse, Seton Hall and St. John’s.
Agee also has familiarity with the Cavaliers after playing for their Summer League team. The 6-foot-8 forward finished his college career at Texas A&M after previous stops at New Mexico State, Bowling Green and USC.
Austin, a 6-foot-7 forward who played at High Point and Pittsburgh, spent last season with the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League.
Jones brings the strongest recent scoring numbers of the group. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 22.3 points during the 2025-26 G League regular season with the Grand Rapids Gold after previously playing at Buffalo and Iowa State.
Cavaliers head to Spain training camp with revamped roster
The four camp additions will join a Cleveland roster that underwent significant changes during the offseason.
James Harden will return alongside Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen after the group played just 26 regular-season games and 18 postseason games together last season. The Cavaliers also acquired Peyton Watson following four seasons with the Denver Nuggets, while Mario Hezonja will return to the NBA after playing overseas.
Cleveland’s three two-way players — Tristan Enaruna, Riley Minix and Ernest Udeh Jr. — will also make the trip.
The Cavaliers will arrive in Spain on Sept. 29, one day after Media Day. Their first practice at The Embassy in Andalusia is scheduled for Sept. 30.
Cleveland will practice through Saturday before holding a scrimmage Sunday at Martín Carpena Arena in Málaga. The trip will give coach Kenny Atkinson his first extended opportunity to evaluate the reworked roster and determine how Cleveland’s new pieces fit around its established core.
After returning to the United States, the Cavaliers will play three preseason games. They open Oct. 8 against the Boston Celtics at Rocket Arena before hosting the Orlando Magic on Oct. 11 and visiting Orlando on Oct. 13.
For Richmond, Jones, Austin and Agee, Spain represents an opportunity to make an impression even with Cleveland’s NBA roster largely set.
