Cleveland Cavaliers rookie guard Meleek Thomas turned heads during Saturday’s training camp practice in Spain by scoring a difficult fadeaway jumper over stars Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley.

The Cavaliers shared a clip of the 20-year-old rookie backing Mitchell into the post before making his move toward the basket. Thomas then got Mobley, one of the NBA’s premier defenders, to leave his feet before turning around and knocking down a contested fadeaway jumper.

The impressive sequence provided an early glimpse of what Thomas could bring to Cleveland’s backcourt during his rookie season.

Thomas landed with the Cavaliers after an NBA Draft night trade. The Sacramento Kings selected him with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft before sending him to Cleveland in exchange for Alex Karaban, whom the Cavaliers selected with the No. 29 pick.

The rookie entered the NBA following one season at Arkansas. Thomas averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals across 37 games, including 21 starts.

He averaged 30.5 minutes per game while shooting 43.5% from the field and an impressive 41.6% from 3-point range.

Thomas will now look to carry that offensive production into his first NBA season while competing for a role on a Cavaliers team coming off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance.
