The Cleveland Cavaliers are set to wrap up their four-game homestand on Thursday night with a matchup against the Washington Wizards. However, it sounds like the Cavs will still be without the services of point guard George Hill, according to a report from Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com
As most Cavs fans know, Hill has been out of commission for two games due to a sprained ankle. The savvy veteran suffered the injury on a driving attempt to the hoop during Friday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Hill, now 31 years of age, is an important member of Cleveland’s backcourt rotation, to be sure. The former 26th overall pick (2008) has played 22 games with the Cavs this season, averaging 10.1 points on 46.0 percent shooting from the field (41.6 percent from beyond the arc), 2.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds and just under one steal (0.8) in 29.1 minutes.
With Hill ruled out for Thursday night’s game, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue, who is making his return to the team after taking an excused leave of absence due to health issues, will likely give Jose Calderon a bit more playing time.
Calderon posted 19 points in Tuesday’s 112-106 victory over the Toronto Raptors, marking his highest point total as a member of the Cavaliers.
