Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Derrick Rose, who suffered a sprained ankle in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks last week, will remain sidelined for “a few more days,” according to head coach Tyronn Lue.

Rose’s injury, which forced the former NBA MVP to miss Saturday night’s road game against the Orlando Magic, doesn’t appear to be too serious. However, as the old saying goes: “you can never be too careful.” The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 Draft rolled his ankle as he drove to the hoop during Friday night’s matchup with the Bucks.

According to Alex Hooper of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, veteran point guard Jose Calderon will get the starting nod in Rose’s absence — just as he did against the Magic. In his 14 minutes of playing time against Orlando, the Spanish-born ball-handler turned in two points on one-of-three shooting from the field, two assists, and two rebounds.

In other Cavs injury news, Rick Noland of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram and Medina Gazette reports that center Tristan Thompson did not practice with the team today due to soreness in his knee. However, it sounds like “Double T,” as he has came to be known, will be ready for Tuesday night’s home game against the Chicago Bulls.

Through three games, Thompson has racked up averages of 5.6 points on 62 percent shooting from the field and 7.7 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per contest. Without a doubt, the Cavs, who are currently tied for the No. 1 spot in the Central Division with a 2-1 record, need Tristan’s motor, as well as his presence in the paint.

Tuesday night’s game against the Bulls is slated for a 7:00 p.m. tip inside Quicken Loans Arena, with NBATV, NBC Sports Chicago, and Fox Sports Ohio having live broadcast coverage.
