Richard Jefferson is now playing for the Denver Nuggets, but he sure still misses his days with the Cleveland Cavaliers. After all, it was with the Cavs that he won an NBA title had long eluded him. Following the Nuggets’ 126-117 win on Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena over the Cavs, Jefferson decided to show up in Cleveland’s locker room to say hi to some of his old folks, including LeBron James.

Jefferson played in only 15 minutes in the win, supplying four points, two assists, and a rebound for the Nuggets. On the season, the 37-year-old forward is averaging measly numbers of 1.6 points, 0.6 assists, and 0.9 rebounds per game. That said, on-court production is not the primary reason why he is with Denver. Jefferson provides leadership and a needed veteran presence for the Nuggets, who are nurturing plenty of young up-and-coming players.

Richard Jefferson played for two seasons in Cleveland and was part of the Cavs teams that went to the NBA Finals in 2016 and 2017. Just before the start of the 2017-18 season, Jefferson was traded by Cleveland to the Atlanta Hawks along with Kay Felder, a 2019 second round pick, a 2020 second-round pick, and some cash in exchange for Dimitrios Agravanis and Sergey Gladyr. Jefferson was immediately waived by Atlanta, paving the way for his signing a one-year deal worth $2.3 million with the Nuggets back in October.
