The student, Tyronn Lue, took a page from the book of his teacher, Doc Rivers, prior to Game 6 of the last NBA Finals.

But this isn’t about any plays or speeches. The ploy that the 2016 champion coach took copied from the 2008 titlist literally went beyond basketball as it involved every member of the Cavaliers organization, from Dan Gilbert down to every single team staff members.

Lue took $100 from each of those individual and stashed them somewhere in the coaches’ dressing room in Oracle Arena. They were going to return, take the money, and bring home the title. They did just that.

Part of the deal was for Lue to return every person’s money. However, some haven’t gotten theirs, and one of them includes LeBron James himself, per Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon.

“I’m still looking for my money. I didn’t get mine back,” James said.
