Yesterday morning, multiple sources reported that Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson, who suffered a sprained thumb in Tuesday’s 122-102 win over the Orlando Magic, did not travel with the team to Boston for their matchup against the Celtics, thus ending his record 447 consecutive games played.

According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, Thompson was not pleased when he learned that his teammates would be on the road without him. Sources close to Thompson said that he would have simply taped his finger and played had last night’s game been of the playoff variety.

Although he was mad about missing last night’s game, “Double-T,” as Thompson is affectionately known amongst his fans and followers, posted a congratulatory message to the Cavs on his Twitter account.

Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue spoke to members of the media with regards to Thompson’s consecutive games played streak coming to an end after last night’s win.

“(I) feel bad for Tristan because he is the iron man and he wants to play every single night,” Coach Lue said. “It’s just something that’s a little bump in the road, so we’ll get over it, he’ll get over it and then we’ll move on.”
