The NBA has seen some amazing fourth quarter performances this season. Most of the highlight plays that we look at the end of the season occur during the fourth. That being said, we take a look at the top 10 fourth quarter scorers this season, starting with number 10:

10. Kyrie Irving

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving averages 5.8 points per game in the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Irving shoots 43.7% from the field, 34.5% from the three-point line, and 85.6% from the free throw line. In his career high 57 point game against the Spurs, Irving scored 16 points in the fourth quarter, including the final nine, to send the game to overtime. If that wasn’t enough, he scored 11 of the Cavs 18 points in the overtime period to send the Cavs to a road victory over the defending champs.

9. DeMarcus Cousins

Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins also averages 5.8 points per game in the fourth quarter. He shoots 49.% from the field and 79.5% from the free throw line. In his latest game against the New Orleans Pelicans where he put up a total of 39 points and 20 rebounds, Cousins scored 11 of his team’s 22 points in the fourth quarter, but was unable to get the victory.

8. James Harden

Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden averages 6.0 points per game in the fourth quarter. He shoots 41.9% from the field, 32.0% from the three-point line, and 81.8% from the free throw line. He recently scored a career high 50 points against the Denver Nuggets, including 12 in the fourth quarter to help put the pesky Nuggets away on a night where Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler were watching from the front row.

7. Damian Lillard

Portland Trailblazers point guard Damian Lillard averages 6.1 points per game in the fourth quarter. he boasts averages of 39.3% from the field, 28.9% from the three-point line, and 80.0% from the free throw line. He’s been asked to carry a heavier load as of late with the unbelievable injury troubles to Wesley Matthews, Nicolas Batum, and LaMarcus Aldridge.

6. Jamal Crawford

The reining Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford has been incredible in the fourth quarter off the bench for the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 6.2 points per game in the fourth quarter. He shoots the ball at 42.5% from the field, 36.4% from the three-point line, and 89.9% from the free-throw line. He’s missed the last couple of weeks with a bad calf injury, but he’s said to be on his way back soon. But soon enough to win the Sixth Man award again? We’ll see.

5. Isaiah Thomas

The shortest player in the NBA Isaiah Thomas is the fifth best fourth quarter scorer, averaging 6.4 points in that final period. Boston’s point guard off the bench shoots 45.4 from the field, 43.4% from the three-point line, and 88.7% from the free throw line. He just recently came back from injuries to his wrist and back, and he’s a top 3 contender to win the Sixth Man of the Year award.

4. Anthony Davis

New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis also averages 6.4 points per game in the fourth quarter. He shoots 59.3% from the field, 50.0% from the three-point line, and 80.2% from the free throw line. He’s been on and off the floor with injuries, but he is considered a top 5 MVP candidate this season with his incredible statistical numbers and effect on that game.

3. Russell Westbrook

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook averages 6.8 points per game in the fourth quarter. He’s really picked it up since the All-Star game, and in the fourth, he shoots 42.7% from the field, 15.9% from the three-point line, and 82.1% from the free throw line. Westbrook is among the five candidates to win the MVP award this season, and with Kevin Durant out for the season, this is absolutely Westbrook’s team and his time to shine.

2. LeBron James

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James is one of two players to average 7.2 points per game in the fourth quarter, which is tops in the league. He shoots 48.7% from the field, 34.1% from the three-point line, and 77.8% from the free throw line. LeBron is still averaging those 7.2 points after struggling to score in the fourth in the past two games, which speaks to how good he’s been for most of the season.

1. Dwyane Wade

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade averages 7.2 points per game in the fourth quarter. He does it while shooting a solid 48.4% from the field, 37.5% from the three-point line, and 73.1% from the free throw line. Most recently, Wade scored an incredible 19 points of his 40 points in the fourth quarter in a matchup against the Detroit Pistons, helping the Heat hold off a Piston comeback and keep a hold of the seventh spot in the East.
