The Cleveland Cavaliers had a creative way to announce their 2026-27 NBA schedule, and it came at the expense of a video game franchise.
One of the most popular memes over the past several years has been the long, painful wait for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar Games is set to release it in November, but not before the Cavs used it to hilariously announce their schedule.
“The Cavs schedule dropped before we got GTA 6,” Cleveland shared on the team’s official X account, while adding several edited GTA-themed photos.

Donovan Mitchell and the Cavaliers will open their season on Oct. 22 in a marquee matchup against the new-look Philadelphia 76ers, who are now led by four-time NBA Most Valuable Player and former Cavs superstar forward LeBron James, at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
Cleveland’s home opener will come a game later on Oct. 25, when the Cavs host the Brooklyn Nets at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
Other notable games on the Cavs’ schedule are their date with Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 26 and the meeting with the reigning Western Conference champions Oklahoma City Thunder on Nov. 2 — both at home.
Moreover, the Cavaliers have Nov. 7 circled on the calendar, as that will be the date of their Eastern Conference Finals rematch against the reigning NBA champions New York Knicks at home. New York and Cleveland met in the Eastern Conference Finals in the last playoffs, with Jalen Brunson and company dominating and sweeping the Cavs in four games.
