The Cleveland Cavaliers’ season is not yet over, but Mo Williams already has made a decision on his future.

According to a report by Chris Haynes for Cleveland.com, the veteran point guard has expressed his desire to pick up his player option for next season.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Mo Williams will bypass becoming an unrestricted free agent this summer to pick up his player option for the 2016-17 season, league sources informed cleveland.com.

Williams, 33, signed a modest two-year, $4.3 million deal last season and the second year contained a player option. The deadline for him to opt out is June 16, a league source told cleveland.com. He will earn approximately $2.2 million next season.

Currently a third-string point guard for Cleveland, the former All Star started 14 games for the Cavaliers to begin the season while Kyrie Irving was recovering from an injury. As a starter for the entire month of November (11 games), he averaged 15.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 53.1% from the field.

Williams has been very vocal of his love for the city of Cleveland, and he will continue to give the Cavs a valuable insurance policy at the point position.
