REPORT: Cavs Are Frontrunners, But Have Competition To Sign Joe Johnson

The Brooklyn Nets have waived Joe Johnson, and now the veteran shooting guard will clear waivers Saturday afternoon when he’ll be able to sign with a new team.

Johnson reportedly knows exactly where he wants to play already, but he’ll have a few other teams interested in him. According to Marc Stein, a lot of playoff contenders want Johnson on their side.

Although he holds the nickname iso-Joe, Johnson would bring yet another veteran presence who has had a relatively healthy career and can contribute on the offensive end of whatever team he chooses. According to NBA.com/stats, Johnson shoots 38.5% on catch-and-shoot two-point field goals as well as 44% on catch-and-shoot three-point field goals.
