The Cleveland Cavaliers have been very inconsistent lately. After looking like they are back to their old winning ways shortly after the trade deadline when they stitched together four straight wins, the defending Eastern Conference champions have lost seven of their next 13 outings.
Despite this topsy-turvy nature of the Cavs, it’s undeniable that LeBron James is balling out on an almost nightly basis. For all the changes Cleveland has made on its roster, the Cavs will still go as far as where James takes them, something that was reinforced by what the four-time league MVP did late in the road game against the Chicago Bulls Saturday night.
With under a minute remaining in regulation and with the Cavs ahead by only four points, LeBron James gave Cleveland a bigger breathing room by nailing a clutch two-point jumper with Bulls forward Paul Zipser playing as good a defense as anyone could in that play.
James would finish the game with another triple-double, scoring 33 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists. He also shot 15-for-26 from the field and had two blocks and a steal to lead the Cavs to a 114-109 victory.
James is simply playing like no other player in his 15th season in the league had before. The 33-year-old superstar entered the Chicago game averaging 27.0 points, 9.0 assists, and 8.6 rebounds per game, while shooting an incredible 54.4 percent from the floor and 37.0 percent from behind the arc.
James and the Cavaliers will look to score their first back-to-back wins since Mar. 7 when they host the Milwaukee Bucks this Monday.
