This year’s NBA’s All-Star festivities will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana, beginning on Friday, February 17th, and culminating on Sunday, February 19th with the famed All-Star game itself.
In an article from Jason Lloyd of The Akron Beacon Journal, Cleveland Cavaliers Head Coach Tyronn Lue explained why he thinks his team should have three players sent to the NBA’s All-Star game, saying:
We should have three this year. Especially the way these guys are playing and being No. 1 in the East right now.
Usually when that happens and you’re winning, guys are rewarded.”
Coach Lue has a point…
Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, who is averaging 25.0 points, 9.1 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game, is basically a lock for the All-Star game.
Kyrie Irving, Cleveland’s superb point guard, is averaging 23.9 points and 4.7 assists per contest. As of now, Irving is ranked second amongst Eastern Conference point guards in scoring.
And finally, a player who should indeed be on the All-Star team for his incredible play through the early stages of this year’s NBA season: Kevin Love. The 6’10” smooth-shooting forward is currently the only player in the East scoring 20 points or more while averaging a double-double (21.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game).
With numbers like these, and a team record to back them up, it should be extremely difficult to hold all three members of Cleveland’s Big Three out of this year’s All-Star game.
