Over the weekend, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving had requested a trade in a meeting with team owner Dan Gilbert earlier this month. Since then, all forms of sports media have been following the story with a keen eye. As of now, Irving remains on the roster, and whether or not Gilbert will acquiesce to his plea is yet to be seen.

One interesting tid-bit to this story is the fact that news of Irving’s meeting with Gilbert failed to reach the media for weeks. Now, most fans and analysts are wondering who leaked the information. There are some reports indicating that LeBron James‘ camp may have played a role in the news being leaked. However, as of now, there is no proof of that claim.

There have also been reports of Irving’s trade request being leaked by some of his other Cavaliers teammates, but again, there is no confirmation to the allegations. There are two members of the team, however, who wanted to make it perfectly clear that they had nothing to do with exposing Irving’s trade request. Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye, hosts of the popular podcast show, ‘Road Trippin,’ sent out this tweet to clear the air.
