As most fans of the team know, the Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly extended former Detroit Pistons great Chauncey Billups a five-year offer to serve as Head of Basketball Operations.
Billups, 40, has met with Cavs owner Dan Gilbert on two separate occasions this week, but is still contemplating his decision.
Earlier today, Keith Britton of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland reported that Richard Hamilton has spoken with Billups about Cleveland’s proposal. Just in case anyone doesn’t know, Hamilton was Billups’ teammate in Detroit. Hamilton tells Britton that Billups is excited about the offer and expects a few more meetings with Gilbert to take place.
Although Billups, a 17-year NBA veteran, has no prior experience in the front office, he knows the ins-and-outs of the game. Furthermore, Billups and Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue are close friends. For now, we wait.
Expectation is Billups will let #Cavs know Thursday or Friday. I’ll have more on AmicoHoops soon. Will link. https://t.co/Lnj8TMBQad
