The Cleveland Cavaliers will have a tough task ahead of them tonight when they take on the Atlanta Hawks. Not only are they facing a desperate Hawks team that really needs home court advantage in the first round against the Celtics, Heat, or Hornets. With all four teams within a game of one another, each game is a must-win and the Hawks are going to play that way.

The Cavs are going to have to fend off those Hawks without their stalwart defender Iman Shumpert, who’s going to be out tonight and Wednesday against Detroit with inflammation in his knee. The Cavs official site released the news this morning.

Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert will miss the final two games of the regular season after experiencing soreness and inflammation in his left knee that kept him out of Saturday’s game in Chicago. After further evaluation on Sunday, Shumpert had his left knee drained. He will undergo additional treatment and rest over the next several days and is expected to be fully available for the start of playoff practice and preparation later this week. Shumpert will be OUT tonight versus Atlanta and Wednesday versus Detroit.

Because the Cavs have not locked up home court advantage and don’t have a set opponent yet, there’s no way to know whether they play on Saturday or Sunday. Since Shumpert is fully expected to be available for the start of the postseason, this is likely precautionary to get Shump as close to 100% as possible.
