Like many around the NBA have thought, the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ offseason has gone from a rather uneventful one to a complete debacle in the last week — going from very small signings to the trade request that took the league by storm.
In Friday’s set of The Jump with Rachel Nichols, recently-retired forward, turned analyst Paul Pierce had no problem giving the Cavs’ offseason an “F” grade.
“Oh my gosh, they don’t even have a GM, this is a quick one,” said Pierce with a laugh. “I mean, goodness. They didn’t get better, they don’t have a GM. I had this (report card) out, it was waiting to come out.”
His now-colleague Zach Lowe was a little more just given the conditions in which the team started the offseason — very little cap room flexibility and not a lot of assets to make moves.
Things took an even more sour turn with the departure of general manager David Griffin and spiraled downward last week with news of Kyrie Irving‘s trade request, which is bound to shake this roster much more in the rest of the offseason.
