After a meeting with team owner Dan Gilbert earlier today, three-time NBA All-Star Derrick Rose has agreed to join the Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
It seems as though Cavaliers superstar LeBron James approves of the teamās addition of Rose. In fact, the King sent out a personalized message to Rose on his Twitter account just moments after the news broke.
Over the course of his career in the association, Rose, a 28-year-old former No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, has racked up averages of 19.5 points on 45 percent shooting from the field (30 percent from downtown), 6.0 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 34.7 minutes per game.
In his 64 games played for the New York Knickerbockers last yearĀ ā a season in which he suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee ā āD-Rose,ā as he has came to be known, averaged 18 points (career-high 87 percent from the free-throw line), 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 32.5 minutes per contest.
While itās true that Rose has endured some rather serious injuries in the past, it seems as though he has recovered and is ready to help the Cavs compete in another run at the Larry OāBrien trophy.
As most avid hoops fans know, Rose was a member of theĀ United States menās national basketball teamsĀ that won gold medals at 2010Ā andĀ 2014 FIBA World Cups. Everyone willĀ just have to wait and see how the former Memphis Tiger performs in a wine and gold uniform.
