On Thursday, the NBA announced that Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James has been named to the 2016-17 All-NBA First Team. This marks James’ 13th All-NBA Team selection and his 11th time with a First Team appearance. The only other players to have 11 First Team nods to their credit are Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant and Utah Jazz star big-manKarl Malone.
The All-NBA Teams are chosen by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. This season, James received 99 first place votes out of a possible 100, and his honor is well-deserved. In 74 outings during the 2016-17 regular season, the King averaged 26.4 points (8th in NBA) on 55% shooting from the field (10th in NBA), a career-high 8.6 rebounds (17th in NBA), a career-high 8.7 assists (6th in NBA) and 1.2 steals in 37.8 minutes per game. Furthermore, James recorded career-highs in double-doubles (42, 11th in NBA) and triple-doubles (13, 3rd in NBA).
Houston Rockets guard James Harden (100 first place votes), Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook (99), San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard (96), and New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis (45) round off the 2016-17 NBA First Team starting five.
