Following Game 2 of the NBA Finals, there was a developing storyline surrounding LeBron James not taking the podium after the loss that immediately created some stir that he didn’t want to talk to media.
However, it didn’t take long for clarity to be reached on the situation as Rachael Nichols of ESPN revealed that it was the poor management of timing that didn’t give him the opportunity to do a podium interview.
On top of that, James did speak to media outside of his locker following the game. He seemed a bit on edge, but that was to be expected given how the Golden State Warriors cruised to another win to hold a commanding 2-0 series lead.
James certainly did his part to help to try to counteract the Warriors’ offense by posting a triple-double with 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting with 14 assists, and 11 rebounds in the loss. It was his eighth triple-double in the NBA Finals that tied him with Hall of Famer Magic Johnson for the all-time record.
In fact, James is averaging a triple-double through the first two games with 28.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 11.0 assists per contest. He has without a doubt been a huge source of reliability on both ends of the floor.
Although things are quickly shifting in Golden State’s favor, the NBA Finals now head to Quicken Loans Arena in a couple of days. This could give the Cavaliers an opportunity to refocus and regroup for a chance to get back into the series starting with Game 3 on Wednesday night.
