The defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers have made their way to Boston for tonight’s Game 1 matchup against the Celtics in the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals.
Last night, the NBA held their annual draft lottery. To no one’s surprise at all, the Celtics found themselves winning of the number one overall pick in June’s draft. After this morning’s shootaround, LeBron James chimed in on the Boston’s fortunate prize.
“It was just a ‘Wow,’ like, ‘OK’,” James said. “To be a very, very good team and get the No. 1 pick — they got the better side of that situation with Brooklyn, I’ll tell you that.”
James is referring to a trade between the Celtics and Brooklyn Nets in 2013 that brought Boston quite a few first-round picks, including this year’s selection that turned into a No. 1 pick in last night. Armed with a 53-win season and the top pick in the draft, things are looking good for fans in Beantown.
“I don’t think Boston fans need any more pumping up,” James added. “They were born with pump, if that makes any sense.”
