For years, the knock on LeBron James has been his inability to hit jumpshots, especially from beyond the three-point arc. Following the monumental struggles James had last season where he shot under 30% on jumpshots, James has come back with a great season for the NBA Champion Cavaliers.
LeBron is currently averaging 25.9 points, a career-high 8.1 rebounds, career-high 8.9 assists and 1.3 steals on 53.9% shooting from the field. His most impressive stat, however, may be his three-point shooting this season.
James shot a career high 40.6% from downtown back in 76 games during the 2012-13 season, making 103 and 254 three-point attempts. However, this season, James has already made 101 triples while taking exactly 254 in just 56 games for the Cavs, a very solid 39.8%. If he keeps up his current shooting pace, he could very well set a career-high in three-point shooting percentage.
James’ 39.8% shooting from downtown is actually better than some of the other great shooters in the NBA this season. That would put James just percentage points behind Stephen Curry and Ryan Anderson, while also putting them ahead of Bradley Beal, Zach LaVine, Gordon Hayward, Lou Williams, Paul George and even his own teammate Kyrie Irving
Over his last seven games, James has made 17-of-29 three-pointers, and even made six of them when he helped the Cavs knock down an NBA record 25 triples against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.
