On Wednesday night, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James intended on watching the Adidas Uprising Summer Championships game between LaMelo Ball’s Big Baller Brand and Zion Williamson’s SC Supreme in Las Vegas, but security concerns seem to have forced a change of plans.
According to a report from ESPN’s Myron Medcalf, the arena was packed with patrons — both inside and out. James and several of his friends arrived at the venue in hopes of watching the game courtside, but overcrowding forced his hand, causing him to cancel the appearance.
Law enforcement officials told ESPN that the game was “way oversold.” Fans were stood outside of the arena for hours, according to reports. Chris Rivers, the event organizer, says that police were finally able to clear the game for play just one minute before its scheduled tip.
LaVar Ball, LaMelo’s outspoken father, had no quarrels with LeBron’s absence, saying: “He’s not the biggest player to me. The biggest players to me are my boys. I don’t care about no LeBron. LeBron do his thing, I just worry about my boys. I don’t worry about all that other stuff.”
As it turns out, LeBron missed quite an interesting game on Wednesday night, as Williamson racked up 28 points to lead the SC Supreme to a 104-92 victory over LaMelo’s Big Baller Brand side. Despite the losing effort, Ball still managed to turn in 31 points for BBB.
