The Cleveland Cavaliers went into Wednesday night’s contest against the Indiana Pacers with a huge question mark, after seeing fill-in starter Iman Shumpert go down with an injury the night before.
DeAndre Liggins started in place of the injured Shumpert, but was clearly outshined by Kyle Korver off the bench. Korver went crazy from behind the three point arc, shooting 8-of-9, including 5-of-5 from the corner and 6-of-6 from direct LeBron James passes.
That’s one way to get in the good graces of the King.
His 8-of-9 success clip from deep tied his best night ever in the NBA for most three’s made in a single game, but that was only the beginning of his historic night.
Korver moved up the ladder on the all-time NBA made three pointers list, overpassing Jason Kidd for the number seven rank.
Korver is proving to be a deadly weapon for the aptly named Cleveland ‘Korverliers’ of late. After going 0-of-6 in his first game donning the Wine and Gold, Korver has since shot 40-of-70 from deep, a crazy 57% from beyond the arc.
The Cavaliers were led by Korver, as they erased a six-point half time deficit, outscoring Indiana 40-18 in the third. Following the game Korver was the man every reporter rushed to for comments, but he stayed humble as ever, crediting his teammates.
“Nothing gets a shooter open like more shooters.”
Cleveland seem to have worked through their recent rut, ending the Pacers seven-game winning streak just two nights after ending the Wizards‘ seven-game streak.
Next up to the plate is the Oklahoma City Thunder on a back-to-back.
