For a while now, Kevin Love has been limited to non-contact activity as he recovers from shoulder surgery back in late April. The 4-to-6 month timetable has him returning between the end of August and the end of October. That being said, Love, who didn’t participate in too much during training camp last week, is having his status upgraded according t o Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal, Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com, and Dave McMenamin of ESPN:

With Love now taking contact in 3-on-3 games, Blatt also said that he’s hopeful Love can be ready for the season opener. If all goes well, Love will be participating in his first live practice this weekend, which is the next step in his road back.
If he does well there, he could very well be in line to play in the preseason and also be ready for the season opener against the Bulls, according to Head Coach David Blatt.
