With the Cavs only having two point guards on the team, it’s fairly clear how the rotation will work itself out: Kyrie Irving will start and Kay Felder will man the backup point guard position behind him.
During Sunday’s practice, coach Tyronn Lue confirmed the backup point guard job belonged to Felder, according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

“Right now we’ll say he’s going to be our backup point guard for right now,” Lue said.
Although Felder will come off the bench for Irving, it doesn’t mean that he’ll be the primary ball handler. The Cavs still have that other guy named LeBron James who can do the bulk of the handling and playmaking.
“We’ll just see how the flow of the game goes, and what is going on in the game,” said Lue regarding the ball-handling without Irving on the floor.
Jordan McRae has been solid this preseason, providing the Cavs with a much-needed offensive punch. Although he still has a long way to go, McRae can certainly provide some decent ball-handling and playmaking to the Cavs this season.

Aside from Felder and McRae, the Cavs have reportedly been eyeing guard Mario Chalmers as he recovers and rehabs his torn Achilles injury suffered back in March.
“Kay has been great,” Lue said. “He’s picking up the plays, picking up the terminology. It’s a different game than college and we know that.”
Felder has a lot of upside at just 21-years of age, but he’ll need some time to adjust to the NBA game. For now, he’ll be a solid backup to Kyrie Irving.
