The Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers have made another offseason move, signing swingman Jeff Green on a one-year, $2.3 million deal, per Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
Most basketball fans know Green from his days with the Boston Celtics. Throughout his career, Green has averaged 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, but saw a dropoff in production this past season with just 9.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists on 39.4 percent shooting from the field and 27.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Green, a forner fifth overall selection out of the University of Georgetown, was sidelined for the final nine games of last season due to lower back soreness.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that Cavs superstar LeBron James was involved in the recruiting of Green — a player who has a decent outside shot, but is athletic enough to penetrate in the open floor and defend a fairly wide range of players.

Signing Green to a veteran’s minimum deal is a good move for the Cavaliers, who are now into the repeater tax once again. Just last week, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert and acting general manager Koby Altman pulled the trigger and signed veteran point guard José Calderón, as well as shooter Kyle Korver.
