Earlier this afternoon, the Cleveland Cavaliers issued an official statement to announce that they had parted ways with their general manager, David Griffin — much to the dismay of their fan base.
Griffin: the man who made the moves for Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, and Iman Shumpert. The man who orchestrated the end of Cleveland’s 52-year championship drought in 2016 — gone.
“Griff,” as Cavs fans came to know him by, decided to release a statement of his own with regards to the mutual split. The Phoenix native was sure to thank team owner Dan Gilbert and the fans for the opportunity, but says they reached a point where “the fit just wasn’t right.”

Now, Gilbert and the Cavs will need to make a decision. Early reports indicate that Chauncey Billups is a favorite to land the President of Basketball Operations spot in Cleveland. Let’s see how this story develops from here.
