Since he got the majority ownership of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2005, Dan Gilbert already had a vision of winning a championship with LeBron James.
But five years later, the franchise hit a major roadblock when James decided to take his talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat. Gilbert was vocal in his disgust over his franchise player leaving his hometown, and the Cavs then moved on, but struggled winning games even after they drafted Kyrie Irving a year after James left.

In 2014, James shocked the world when he announced his return to Cleveland to once again play for the Wine and Gold. From there on, the team added Kevin Love to form their own version of a “Big Three” which paid huge dividends for them as they won their first championship in 52 years this past June.
The billionaire team owner looks to continue the success his team currently enjoys and plans for their future together with his superstar and four-time MVP. While making a guest appearance on ESPN 850 WKNR’s “Really Big Show,” he revealed that he, James, and other members of the ownership team often have discussions about the future of the Cavs and even called their relationship as a “partnership.”
“And sometimes LeBron with his partners, (agent) Rich Paul or something, we go deep and talk about stuff and figure out where we need to go with the partnership. It’s really a partnership when you think about it.”
Since winning the title in game seven of the finals, Gilbert admitted to not having the chance to meet with the same group yet but is looking forward to having the discussion in the near future.

“You know, there are so many people around. We did a couple little ones here and there with some people around. Everybody has been on such a kind of a run all summer. We plan on doing that very soon here in the next week or so.”
Whatever they discuss during those meetings is anybody’s guess at this point, but one thing that’s certain is it has helped James fulfill his promise of bringing home a title for his beloved hometown. The Cleveland faithful wouldn’t mind them meeting privately as long as they keep on winning and keeping the players happy.
