It’s been a while since the Cleveland Cavaliers had as much fun on the basketball court as they did on Sunday, when they annihilated the Boston Celtics in a sparkling 121-99 win at the TD Garden. The victory came on the same day that Jordan Clarkson, George Hill, Rodney Hood, and Larry Nance Jr. made their debut for Cleveland since the Cavs acquired them via a flurry of moves just before Thursday’s trade deadline. It was also a statement win for a Cleveland team that has gone through a tumultuous stretch going back to last December.
While it’s still too early to judge the new-look Cleveland roster, former Cavs guard Dahntay Jones offered his insight, albeit in a subtle way, as to why the team has ostensibly played better since the trade deadline.
We don’t remember when was the last time Dahntay Jones was a relevant NBA figure, but he got a fair share of the spotlight at least on Twitter with this terse yet meaningful tweet. Jones, of course, is at least a bit familiar of the Cavs’ locker room landscape, as he was a part of the Cleveland squad that took home the NBA title in 2016, appearing in 15 playoff games that year.
The Cavs ejected plenty of players lats Thursday, trading away the likes of Isaiah Thomas, Dwyane Wade, Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye, and Derrick Rose in hopes of finding a solution to stop the team’s freefall before they hit rock bottom.
The Cavs will test their shiny new lineup again this Tuesday, as they look to extend their unbeaten streak to four games against the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road.
