The game on Thursday between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers may not be the most competitive on paper, but it’s a highly anticipated one, as it will be the first time LeBron James will share the court with Lonzo Ball. With all the hype that surrounded him even before he entered the league, it’s very understandable why a lot of eyes are set on him, and how much the Northeast Ohio faithful want their franchise player to show him first hand that he’s the best player in the world today.
During a visit to Cleveland Clinic, one child who met James made a hilarious request to him ahead of their matchup. He asked him to dunk on Ball to which the former four-time MVP responded by saying that he will, but he is not sure if the 20-year-old rookie will still stand in his path when he sees him attacking the basket hard.
The two teams are on separate paths in their respective conferences, as the Cavs have made a furious run lately which catapulted them to second place in the Eastern Conference despite their slow start to the season. The Lakers, on the other hand, had a decent start but have since struggled to string a few wins together and only have a 10-16 record to show.
It remains to be seen if James will have the opportunity during the game to stay true to his word to his young fan. However, one thing that’s certain is he will give his best effort to earn the victory. As he wants the Wine and Gold to extend their current winning streak to three games, James also wants to send a strong message to Ball and company on why he is called “The King.”
