The game on Wednesday between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic turned out to be a highly competitive one as the visiting team was able to come back from a huge deficit and almost came out with the win inside Quicken Loans Arena.
It was also highly physical especially late in the fourth quarter as neither team gave their opponents an inch to take control the game. With 6:39 left, Tristan Thompson attacked the basket hard as he saw he was on a mismatch with Evan Fournier guarding him on a single coverage. However, he wasn’t able to score against him as he was whistled for a Flagrant 1 foul after he hit the Magic swingman with an elbow to his face. The referees then reviewed the play and deemed Thompson worthy of receiving such call.
The good news for Thompson and the Cavs was they were able to snap out of their four-game losing streak and won for only the fourth time in their last 12 games. Six of their players finished in double figures in scoring, led by Isaiah Thomas who recorded 21 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Fournier appeared not to be seriously hurt after the hit he received and was able to play in the final moments of the match. However, it could be more painful as his team dropped their eighth game in their last nine outings and saw their record fall to 13-32, and currently own the worst record in the entire league.
