The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James looks more excited to see Andre Drummond in his team for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game than the Detroit Pistons center himself. Team LeBron lost another player when John Wall went down with an injury paving the way for Drummond to be named as his replacement.
Last week, DeMarcus Cousins went down with an Achilles injury and is out for the season.
Before the start of the game between the Cavs and the Pistons Tuesday, NBA TV’s Dennis Scott was interviewing the University of Connecticut product when James came flying in from nowhere to shout “Team LeBron!” at the mic and left just as speedily.
Drummond and Scott had a good laugh over that one.
Scott was interviewing him about his thoughts on being named an All-Star for the second time in his career. He was an All-Star in 2016 but was absent last year.
Wall was initially named as a reserve for Team LeBron but will be out six to eight weeks due to a knee injury.
Drummond is one of the league’s best centers, leading the NBA in rebounding with 15.1 rebounds per game while adding 1.37 blocks a night.
A career 40.8 percent free-throw shooter, Drummond worked hard during the summer to improve his efficiency at the line. As a result, he is shooting a career-high 62.5 percent on his free throws while averaging 14.7 points per game overall.
The Pistons center will now be teaming up with newly-acquired power forward Blake Griffin, who arrived in Detroit by way of a trade with the L.A. Clippers.
