The Cleveland Cavaliers are still in search of a back-up point guard for Kyrie Irving, to come in off the bench and relieve minutes for the starting unit. The playmaker that LeBron James has been adamant about securing is yet to eventuate, and another chapter to the ongoing events transpired tonight, as the Cavs let the trade exception created by the Anderson Varejao deal from last season expire at midnight.
The Cavs had until the end of last night to use it, but have chosen to let it expire as they couldn’t find a player that suited what they are looking for currently. News was delivered by Chris Haynes of ESPN.
The Cavs have yet to find a deal that makes sense, but luckily for them, they still have a similar trade exception that was created during the acquisition of Kyle Korver that they can still use to find the right fit.

Names such as Shelvin Mack, Jose Calderon, Mario Chalmers, Kirk Hinrich, and Jordan Farmar have been consistently popping up, but it seems as though the Cavs are waiting closer to the trade deadline to make absolute certain they get what they want.
