The Cleveland Cavaliers over the last three years have been one of the league’s most successful franchises, reaching three consecutive NBA Finals including earning the first championship in team history.
Beyond the massive impact that LeBron James has made on the court since his return to the organization, general manager David Griffin has been a key part in help string together a dynamic roster over that span that has helped enable them to achieve much success.
In light of all that, it appears that the Cavaliers are finally willing to let other teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks speak with Griffin following the 2017 NBA Finals, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
Milwaukee has been searching for a new general manager since John Hammond agreed to a five-year deal to take over that position with the Orlando Magic. During his nine-year tenure with the Bucks, the team made four playoff appearances including this season while also constructing a promising roster that features the likes of All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker.
Although the Cavaliers potentially granting the Bucks permission to speak Griffin, it doesn’t necessarily mean that he will leave the organization. He has helped build a juggernaut in Cleveland that has become the top team in Eastern Conference with no formidable challenger at this current juncture.
For the time being, the main focus around the organization is on the task ahead in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
