Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James has never been shy about expressing his political opinions. As one of the biggest sports icons on the planet, James’ stances off the court carry plenty of weight.
But could ‘The King’ possibly trade in his throne for the Oval Office once his playing days are over? Actor Will Ferrell certainly hopes so after mentioning his endorsement of the three-time NBA champ on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers:
“So, I don’t usually bother people. I kind of know Kevin Love a little bit. UCLA. I said hi to him. Then I went over to LeBron. I was like, ‘I just have to say hello. How are you?’ And I said, ‘I was just telling my wife the other night that you need to run for president. You’re from the Midwest. You’re very famous, you’re very popular, you’re very articulate. Please run for office.’”
“So, LeBron, I’m telling you now … we need you.
“And I would love some of your shoes.”
Ferrell has been known to be an avid basketball fan, particularly of his hometown Los Angeles Lakers. So his admiration for the four-time MVP certainly comes as no surprise.
While Ferrell’s request is highly improbable, anything is possible given the current landscape of politics. Just ask Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
