Darius Garland has improved himself to be one of the best players for the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, there was a point in time when he considered leaving the franchise.

ESPN published an article regarding Garland’s journey with the Cavaliers. One of the questions they asked him involved the idea of if he ever thought about departing from the team.

“It crossed my mind. Like just literally crossed it for like five seconds. But I really love this group, man. It’s like a real brotherhood. We’ve been together for three years now, four years now, and I really want to win here,” Garland said.

“I think this group has the opportunity to do something special and bring a championship back to Cleveland. And that’s what I want to do.”

It is logical for Darius Garland to consider his options outside of the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, his success with the team, especially this season, gives him plenty of reasons to stay for the long term.

This season, Garland is averaging 21.3 points, 6.7 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game after 54 appearances. He is shooting 49.3% from the field, including 42.5% from beyond the arc. He has five double-doubles and counting, having scored 20 or more points 32 times.

Cleveland currently boasts a 48-10 record on the season, having the best record in the NBA. They lead the second-place Boston Celtics by 6.5 games for the East’s one-seed. They seek to make an NBA Finals run for the first time since 2018, coming off a second-round exit last season.

The Cavaliers prepare for their next matchup, being on the road. They face the Celtics on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
