Former NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo joined the G League earlier this season in hopes of an NBA comeback, and he was recently acquired by the Cleveland Charge, the affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, via trade as per Danny Cunningham of Locked On Cavs.
Victor Oladipo had been playing with the Milwaukee Bucks’ G League affiliate in the Wisconsin Herd, before the trade to the Cleveland Charge. In exchange for Oladipo, the Herd acquired Jacob Gilyard and Drake Jeffries, as per Tony East of Forbes Sports.
Oladipo had actually begun this season with the Loong-Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association, and the team participated in exhibition games during the NBA’s preseason schedule.
He signed with the Herd back in November, and had been playing there since. He appeared in 26 games with the Herd at a little over 28 minutes per game. Oladipo was averaging 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals with splits of 40 percent shooting from the field, 32.4 percent shooting from the 3-point line, and 71.4 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Oladipo last played in the NBA during the 2022-23 season. He suffered an ACL injury during the playoffs that year while with the Miami Heat, and was sidelined for the entirety of the 2023-24 season after the Heat traded him.
Oladipo was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2023 offseason. The Thunder then traded him to the Houston Rockets right before the start of the 2023-24 season. Then, the Rockets traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies without ever appearing in a game right around the 2024 trade deadline. The Grizzlies would then waive Oladipo shortly after.
