The Cleveland Cavaliers have moved to just a win shy of reaching their fourth straight Eastern Conference Finals appearances after grabbing a 3-0 series lead over the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night. Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue had to be happy about that.
All of that was led by some late-game heroics by star forward LeBron James hitting a difficult game-winning floater that was banked in to lift his team to a Game 3 win.
It has pushed forward the conversation about how James performs in big moments late in games, as he has further embraced those moments in this year’s playoffs by hitting a pair of huge shots to lift to the Cavaliers to wins.
According to Nikki Goel of ClutchPoints, head coach Tyronn Lue voiced some huge praise toward the 33-year-old on Sunday morning, drawing comparisons two of the most respected players in clutch situations with the game on the line.
James’ performance in this year’s playoffs has been quite impressive. In his 15th season, he has been playing some of the best basketball of his career, amplified by his ability to carry his team in crucial moments, which has been a huge criticism of him throughout his career. He has taken it up a notch with his effectiveness in big situations late in contests, continually stepping up by making crucial baskets. It has added to his all-around play that has been the unquestioned driving offensive force for the Cavaliers to reach this point in the playoffs.
He has been playing at a dominant level through the first three games of the series against the Raptors where he is averaging 35.7 points on 53.6 percent from the field along with 11.3 assists and 8.3 rebounds per contest. This includes notching at least 25 points in each game while recording a pair of double-doubles and a triple-double.
With James still playing at an elite level with the Cavaliers just a win shy of reaching the Eastern Conference Finals, he will have a chance to add to his impressive run through the playoffs that could see another chance to secure a second NBA title for the franchise.
