Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James has been on an absolute tear this season. James, now 32 years of age and in his 15th season of NBA service, is showing no signs of regression. In fact, it seems to be just the opposite — a point Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr touched on prior to Monday’s game against the Cavs.
The Cavs and Warriors have met on Christmas Day for three consecutive years. When asked if the rivalry is any different this season, coach Kerr gave a respectful reply, saying: “It’s different, but they still have LeBron.”
The Warriors are certainly a talented team. In fact, prior to their 96-81 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night, they were riding an 11-game winning streak. However, coach Kerr knows how dangerous a LeBron-led team can be, no matter the circumstances.
“I was thinking about it on the drive in: How many players are better in Year 15 than Year 10? Especially when you’re talking about superstars. … What he has done with his game is just incredible.”
In his 33 games played for the Cavs this season, James has managed to pile up some of the best statistical numbers of his life, averaging 28.4 points on 57 percent shooting from the field (41 percent from three-point land), 9.2 assists (career-high), and 8.2 rebounds.
The Cavs have won 19 of their last 21 games, including 12 straight at home. Their Christmas Day match-up against the Warriors is scheduled to tip at 3:00 p.m. EST inside Oracle Arena. ABC will have live broadcast coverage.
