Cavs shooting guard Rodney Hood is drawing interest from several teams ahead of this season’s trade deadline, according to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Charania laid out the details in his recent article, noting three teams that have called the Cavs with interest in Hood’s services:
Shooting guard Rodney Hood is garnering interest from several teams, and has a no-trade clause on the one-year, $3.4 million qualifying offer he signed with the Cavaliers before the season. Teams such as New Orleans, Oklahoma City and Milwaukee have looked into wing help. For a Cavaliers team with heavy salaries throughout the roster, Hood has emerged as a targeted piece.
Hood, now 26 years of age, has been one of Cleveland’s primary options on the offensive end of the floor this season. There have been times when he has struggled, but for the most part, he’s been productive.
In his 40 appearances with the Cavs this season (all starts), Hood has racked up averages of 12.7 points on 43.9 percent shooting from the field (36.1 percent from beyond the arc), 2.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and just under one steal (0.9) in 27.3 minutes per outing.
Whether or not Hood will indeed be traded remains to be seen, but there is a fair amount of interest in his services. If he wants to play elsewhere, which he has not indicated, he’ll need to waive his no-trade clause.
The Cavs will look to improve on their 9-39 record on Wednesday night, when they’ll face the Boston Celtics inside TD Garden. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
