Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Sam Dekker suffered a left ankle injury Monday night against the Orlando Magic and will not return to the game for the Cavs.
Dekker scored two points in 14 minutes of action before exiting.
The Cavs acquired Sam Dekker from the Los Angeles Clippers in the offseason. The 24-year-old entered Monday averaging 6.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 50.0 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from beyond the arc and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line.
Dekker has undergone back surgery and left-hand surgery in his three years in the NBA. He was drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2015 and then was traded to the Clippers in the summer of 2017 in the Chris Paul deal. The former Wisconsin Badger holds career averages of 5.4 points and 3.0 rebounds.
The Cavs have to hope that Dekker won’t be out for any games. They are already going to be without All-Star power forward Kevin Love for the foreseeable future. Love recently underwent foot surgery in New York.
