LeBron James fans are going to love this news. Nike is giving 400 fans the chance to own a pair of the LeBron 15 “EQUALITY” sneakers. Yes, you understood that correctly. The 400 pairs of sneakers are being given away for free.
James wore the special LeBron 15 shoe in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ opening night game versus the Boston Celtics. The LeBron 15 “EQUALITY” shoe will get a limited release and can only be acquired through an online draw from Nike. The contest is available to U.S. residents only.
According to Troy L. Smith of Cleveland.com:
“..fans can either submit a free entry (one per shoe size) or sign up for a Nike+ account and submit an unlimited number of entries for $10 each.”
The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture will be the recipient of the money generated from the promotion.
The LeBron 15 “EQUALITY” is an inspirational shoe that empowers “everyone — regardless of race and background — to stand up and speak for something.”
James was recently criticized by Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham for his less-than-flattering comments about President Donald Trump in a video himself and Kevin Durant released recently. She then advised the Cavs superstar to just “shut up and dribble.”
The timing of the shoe’s release could not have been better as James responded by saying that he will not do what Ingraham suggested him to do.
The shoe has the word “EQUALITY” emblazoned across the heel in gold colors to make the message clear to everyone that reads it — racial equality is something worth standing up for.
The 400 pairs will be divided into 200 black and 200 white pairs
